New Clinic Construction

Building Bonds with Bricks

BMCF is seeking financial support for building a permanent home for the BMCF Medical Centre in Kasese, Uganda. Costs for the new outpatient/administration and maternity buildings are $450,000.

Help fund new clinic facilities. The Centre helps reduce the high maternal and child mortality, treats HIV/AIDS patients and helps prevent the transfer of the HIV virus to newborn babies.

We are starting with the construction of the maternity building, at $200,000 and the administrative facility at $250,000. Each brick costs $2 for mortar and brick.

After completing these buildings, we plan to start building the general ward and the operating theater.

Bishop Masereka Medical Centre was started in 2005, in response to the many health concerns of the people of Kasese. Currently the clinic is offering a wide range of health services which include, but are not limited to, HIV testing and counseling, general medical care, community health education and prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS.

Since 2005, the clinic has been operating in rented premises which were not designed to be a hospital. The current space can only accommodate up to 17 inpatients. Due to the increasing number of patients and the increasing rent dues, the management seeks to have a well-planned medical centre of its own. In 2008 BMCF acquired land where construction has started; The phase one construction of the outpatient facility and the maternity building is expected to cost $450,000. Construction seems to be moving at a low pace because of inadequate funds.
